Summer weddings are extremely popular and if you’ve ever attended one, you know they turn out magnificently! But in order to create that perfect wedding, there are a few things you must discuss with your wedding planner so that your summer wedding would turn out perfect. Here are a few do’s and don’ts for your summer wedding and reception.
· Don’t forget to send out save-the-dates earlier. Many guests might plan a vacation during the summer, and especially if they have school-age kids. So send out the save-the-dates as early as possible so that the guests wouldn’t plan anything for your big weekend.
· Do provide air-conditioning. Since the summer days can be so sunny and hot in Bay Area and Sacramento venues, make sure that your venue will provide the air-conditioning to keep your guests as comfortable as possible. Unfortunately in our experience most venue turn the air on only 2 hours before the reception doors open. So if your planning on having a butterscotch frosting on you cake, this might be a challenge. Yes in our day we have seen cakes start sliding flowers start wilting. We don’t mean to scare you, it’s just what we have found to be true in most cases.So please have your coordinator make sure that the air will be on long time before your guest arrive. Besides, two hours is not enough to cool a venue after it has been hot for a day. If your venue has a shaded region where your ceremony will take place, you’re in luck!
· Don’t schedule a midday wedding in the middle of a hot hot summer. Since the sun is at its highest and brightest around 12pm, your guests might not be able to enjoy your beautiful ceremony and be worried about how not to get sunburn. Even at 5 pm, most chairs that are set out get really hot to sit on them, especially if you have older adults and grand parents.
· Fans. If your wedding reception is outside take the use of the fans that blow away the summer bugs and mosquitoes and give your guest a nice breeze to take that heat off of celebration.
